Getting started
Everything happens from the game's status bar, at the bottom of the app.

The app finds your game
It detects Hollow Knight on Steam. If you have it on GOG, Game Pass or another folder, press «Set path» in the bar below and pick it.

Switch to version 1.5.78.11833
In Steam: right-click Hollow Knight → Properties → Game Versions & Betas → tick «1.5.78.11833 — Previous version» and let it download. SELECTED VERSION 1.5.78.11833 should appear next to the PLAY button.
On GOG you may need the installer for that version. On Game Pass the installed version usually works.

Install the mod in one click
Press «Install mod» with the game closed. The app downloads the Modding API, keeps a copy of the original file it modifies and drops the OverInteractive mod in the mods folder.

Open Hollow Knight
Press «Launch game» or open it from Steam as usual. The Modding API loads the mod on startup.

Wait for «Connected»
Once the game finishes loading, the bar below switches to «Running · Connected». Load your save and every gift reaches the Knight.

In «Profiles» create an example one in a click or build your own: each gift, follow or chat command fires the effect you pick.
EFFECTS
What your chat can do
Each effect is assigned to a gift, a follow, likes or a chat command.
Bosses
Pure Vessel, Crystal Guardian, God Tamer, Absolute Radiance… and The Radiance, Markoth or the Traitor Lord as stalkers that follow you room to room.
Allies
Grimmchild, Weaverlings, Hatchlings, Dreamshield, a Flukenest swarm or Cloth fighting by your side, with no Soul cost and no charm needed.
The Knight
Heal or lose masks, low gravity, inverted controls, slippery floor, huge nail, taking away dash or wings, geo explosion and a teleport to a random room.
Attacks
Collector jars, bees, lasers, spike waves and Ooma bombs raining on you.
Camera
Upside-down, mirrored, nauseous, pixelated or zoomed camera.
Game
Randomized game timings (RNG) and shuffled sound effects.
IMPORTANT
Before you go live
Version 1.5.78.11833 required
The version Steam installs by default today is not compatible. On any other version the mod doesn't load and you see the normal game. Switch it in Steam before installing the mod: it takes a minute.
Install with the game closed
Installing modifies a game file and can't be done with Hollow Knight open: the app will ask you to close it.
Every enemy shows up eventually
There is a cap on chat enemies alive at once so the game doesn't stutter. Extra ones wait their turn and spawn when you kill another.
Effects need gameplay
In the main menu there is no Knight to apply anything to. Load your save so every gift shows.
FAQ
No. «Install mod» downloads the Modding API and the mod and puts them in place. If it was already installed, the app updates it.
The Modding API only works with 1.5.78.11833. The version Steam offers by default is newer and not compatible, so you pick that older version in Steam.
Most effects are temporary. What you are given or lose, like geo, does stay in your save like anything else.
Yes. In «Overlays» → «Counters» you can use «In-game death» and «In-game win» (pantheon, colosseum or Path of Pain) as the source: they count by themselves.
From the ⋯ menu in the bar below, «Uninstall mod» removes the OverInteractive mod. The Modding API stays; to get a fully original game back, verify the game files in Steam.
